Uncle Mike Thanks Ron Smith for the Crazy Horse M14SE Rifle

Because of all of Mike McElfish's (Uncle Mike) generosity to the troops, SEI built him a Crazy Horse M14SE rifle.  He was so excited about it and the effectiveness of the rifle he wrote us an email.  Here is what Uncle Mike wrote:

Dear Ron,

Thank you so very much for the job on the Crazy Horse, M-14 Rifle.

I took it out to the range with my son and his wife while they were here on leave, and the guy next to us had a couple of steel targets that he had made.  So we set them out at 100 yards and let them have it.  The target is 1/2 inch steel plate and the ammo was Remington 308, 150 grain out of the box from walmart.

This seems to be a pretty quick way to put holes in a steel plate, might not be just where you want them, but with some more practice maybe I will get there.

Thanks again for putting together such a beautiful rifle. This thing really kicks *ss!

Smith Enterprise on Display

Look at this great picture of Ron, Andy, and Caesar that was taken by Gary Paul Johnston of Shooting Illustrated Magazine.  Ron is holding the SEI Crazy Horse M21A5 with a Leupold Scope.  Everything on the weapon is SEI-made.  Andy, who is an Iraq War Vet, and Cesar are holding receivers SEI makes for the M14.  On the table are Vortex's for the M2 .50 Cal and various other weapons.  You can't get any products better than these for your military and civilian weapons.

Read This Great Article on the M14 Crazy Horse

This article was written by Peter G. Kokalis several years ago, but many of the great concepts and products on our Crazy Horse are still the same.  We have made some improvements and changes over the years, but this article and the pictures are definitely worth reading and looking at.

SEI Rolling Out New Pueblo Weapons Upgrade Concept

Based on the success of the Crazy Horse M14 Upgrade concept that SEI has been successful with for so many years, SEI has developed this same upgrade system for the rest of the rifles in the DOD inventory.

Why did we develop the Pueblo upgrade?
  • Units have a heightened need for a designated marksman or sniper at the squad and platoon level.
  • We use weapons that are already on the books
  • Based on the success of the SEI Crazy Horse
  • Saves money – don’t need to procure new weapons SEI’s response to increase demand for more accurate rifle lethality with increased flash and suppression defense capability.
We are now going to provide a complete SEI overhaul to the following included weapons:
  • M4 Carbine M4 Close Quarters Battle Rifle (CQBR)
  • MK13 Sniper Rifle
  • M16 Assault Rifle
  • M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System (SASS)
  • M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle (IAR)
  • AK47 Assault Rifle
We can also provide this upgrade capability to any other rifle not mentioned above as long as the caliber is close to .30 Cal, 7.62 mm, 5.56 mm, or similar.

Below is a listing of what we do to the rifles for the Pueblo upgrade:
  • Vortex® Flash Eliminator or Good Iron Muzzle Brake
  • Wind Talker Sound Suppressor
  • Bipod Improved
  • Barrel Replacement (strength)
  • Improved Bolt, and Receiver Upgrade (cryogenic treatment)
  • Two Stage Matchgrade Trigger Replacement
  • Sling Stock Rail System Improvement
  • Buttstock Improvement
  • Scope Rings
  • Better Scope

Below is a concept sketch of our Pueblo upgrade for the M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System (SASS)

So stay tuned as we do more and more of these upgrades for our military and law enforcement customers.  If you are interested in us upgrading your system, please call our Procurement Manager at 813-527-6334 or email us at sales@smithenterprise.com.

This is a great article written about the M14Se Crazy Horse.

Crazy Horse with a PVS-22 Cantilever Mount

In March 2007 we started to deliver these M14SE Crazy Horse rifles to the US Army.  Our customers were very happy with their performance.

We configured several old M14s from the Nevada National Guard by upgrading them into the SEI Crazy Horse M14. The National Guard was exceptionally happy with what they received.
